Institutional Map

Institutional Glossaries and web based institutional map of Ghana and Burkina Faso

Since its onset the GLOWA Volta Project conducted sociological and socio-anthropological case studies at different societal levels.

In order to get the best overview of actors and institutions in the water sector, we prepared institutional glossaries comprising detailed descriptions of institutions, legal arrangements and practices, water authorities, private entrepreneurs, civil society organizations and international donors in Ghana (Fuest et al 2005) as well as in Burkina Faso (Youkhana et al 2006).

The Glossaries are a result of joint endeavours being made by ZEF Senior Researchers and our Project partners in Ghana and Burkina Faso. The descriptions were stopped at one point in time and it is understood that we do not claim completeness.
The Glossaries serve rather as an introduction into the water sector of both countries and could be expanded respectively.

The web based institutional map was generated from the Glossaries in order to make our information as broadly available as possible.
