Welcome to the GLOWA Volta Project

and the

Sustainable Development of Research Capacity based on the GLOWA Volta Project

The interdisciplinary GLOWA Volta Project (GVP) was launched in
May 2000 to support sustainable water resource management in the riparian countries of the Volta Basin in West Africa.

Scientists, students and experts from Africa and Europe have
analyzed the physical and socio-economic determinants of the hydrological cycle in the Volta Basin in the face of global change, and developed scientifically sound Decision Support Resources for the authorities in the region.

The GVP end in May 2009, and is now followed-up by the Project
“Sustainable Development of Research Capacity based on the GLOWA Volta Project”.
From June 2009 to November 2010, this project seeks to strengthen the human capacity and the research infrastructure, and to promote the dissemination of research results.
